What a Blessing

I have been doing Pilates in private classes with Jan since last May. I came to Jan  recovering from compression fractures of the mid and lower back. My on-going pain made it difficult to maintain upright posture.
My spine being weak and unstable due to severe osteoporosis, it was critical that I did not sustain any injury or set back.  Jan adapted the exercises to my needs, kept a sharp eye on my proper alignment, and  encouraged me at every step of the way.
It has been wonderful. I am feeling stronger and my posture has been transformed from bent over to upright.  Thanks to Jan I am  safely developing strength that I have never experienced  before. What a blessing!

Pilates Works.

My mother invited me to a Pilates class with her. She said that it would  help me become more flexible.  I was a bit skeptical because all the training I have  had, I never was able to touch my toes no matter what.  Now after several classes I am able to do just that. It’s amazing. Pilates  works muscles that  normally get lost in the shuffle  of running and regular workouts. I  love the reformer and I am looking forward to  adding a mat class to my workouts.

She utilizes skillful techniques to inspire you to achieve success. Her lessons are challenging and (don’t tell her I said it!) FUN. You will become more flexible and, as in my case, walk better and stand taller. Don’t be afraid. I had a knee replacement and, with Jan’s encouragement, the lessons never had me leave and regret the class. I totally recommend Jan Thorne to you as a very talented Pilates instructor.

Uplifting and Refreshing

My first time taking Pilates with Jan was an uplifting experience, and I felt refreshed as well as energized afterwards. Even though I took a beginners’ class, it was a workout for me! Jan did an incredible job at balancing being patient while pushing me to exceed my very best. Jan’s passion for Pilates was genuine and it was clear she is a natural at teaching. Not only did she remind me to breathe during the exercises, but she opened my eyes to how tense I am in my shoulders without realizing it.
